Originally designed by Charles Eames for the house designed by Aero Saarinen and Alexander Girard, this is an updated classic, as Herman Miller has replaced the typical leather or hopsack with a new colourful and sharply modern mesh. The characteristic feature of the aluminium chair is its intelligent combination of materials. Its form is clear and transparent, the design structure clearly visible. Because the seat material is fitted between the side sections, it readily adapts to the body and offers comfort without requiring extensive upholstery. The seat material is not a cover, but a supporting element of the construction.
